Submit a Comment on the Proposed Public Charge Rule
In October, the Administration proposed a rule that would drastically change the interpretation of what is called a “public charge.” This change would target immigrant families who legally access critical government services, including programs like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and other critical programs.
This new rule would allow government officials to consider use of these programs when determining citizenship applications and/or eligibility for a green card, and would likely harm millions of immigrant children and families.
