Child care works when everyone works together

Family Advocacy Summit 2017

We invite you to BECOME A SPONSOR for our 2018 Family Advocacy Summit, part of our 2018 Symposium April 17 – 20, 2018 in Washington, D.C. As a sponsor, you will provide a much needed scholarship for a Family Advocate to fight for change in child care laws on Capitol Hill.

Family advocates from all over the country are brought together in Washington, D.C. to receive three intense days of advocacy training and meet with their local, state, and federal representatives on Capitol Hill. They share their personal child care stories and advocate for change in their communities. Some parents have had heart-wrenching experiences with the lack of oversight in their child care programs, while others are military spouses or active duty service members, working- and middle-class family members, parents of children with special needs, or grandparents.

Last year, we provided 80 parents with an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Learn more about our 2017 Family Advocates below!

Congratulations to our 2017 Parent and Family Advocates!

Nearly 80 family advocates from across the U.S. joined us for the Child Care Works Family Advocacy Summit, a part of the Child Care Aware® of America Policy Summit, April 23-25, 2017 in Washington, D.C. (Read a recap of the CCAoA Policy Summit.)

This year CCAoA and Child Care Works sponsored more than forty parents (or grandparents and other relatives) and guests to join the Family Advocacy Summit and Day on the Hill activities.

The parent advocates received training and guidance on advocating for child care policies with their members of Congress, learned how to tell their personal child care story, and studied the federal child care and early education landscape. Attendees then met with their Congressional representatives and Congressional staff in almost 300 visits to advocate for the necessary policy initiatives needed from Congress to bring safe, affordable, high-quality child care to families across the country.
